Low-poly Viewmodel Arms V4 for Blender

45 ratings

This rig is the fourth addition to my Low-poly Viewmodel Arms series. But as you may notice, its a lot more high poly than my last versions.

The first version of my rig was made with the purpose of being lightweight and simple, but as time has passed A TON of awesome new rigs have been created with the same lightweight and simple principles so for this version I've decided to take more of a stylistic approach to the idea. Not to stand out but to give myself more freedom since there's already so many rigs that fulfill the lightweight part.

But with that said, the rig is still as simple as can be and the only real info you need to know is in the info text next to the rig.

The other differences compared to my version 3 is that this one has been remade completely from scratch, based on the arms from stalker to give more realistic proportions.

I've also experimented with simulating clothing, getting mixed results. Some of them are simulated and some are hand sculpted.

There's a lot more shader work in this one which enhances the look tremendously, especially for the mesh gloves. Improved rigging for the clothing, better pole positions, better boneshapes, everything is just better really.

Speaking of better, the watch has gotten a complete redesign and is now digital instead with a fully customizable watch face. The values are driven by custom properties in the wrench/screwdriver bone which is also where the rest of the customization options are, like usual. Just make sure to match the FPS in the custom property with the scene FPS, otherwise the watch will seem to move unnaturally fast or slow depending on if your fps is above or below its default which is 30.

Some other things to mention are that the rig now features nails with customizable length, an undershirt that you can pair with any bodywear and also some jewelry. There are also other changes and fixes to most meshes, that's why the images here are labeled as outdated.

Jewelry and other bits

And that's it, thanks a bunch to everyone who has helped with the making of this rig, I'll be putting some names below.

KNOWN ISSUES & QUIRKS

  • Clipping on multiple bodywear meshes, not high priority since its not noticeable in most cases.
  • Undershirt may have issues with bodywear length. Should be fixed eventually.
  • Undershirt weighting is incorrect.
  • Gap in the mesh on the first pair of Mechanix gloves when wrist is bent.
  • Odd elbow weighting on blouse meshes.
  • The rig isn't as cool as it could be. šŸ‘€
